Understand the basic difference
This is not one course competing against another.
Nursing is a broad profession. Allied health is a group of separate technical specialisations. The right choice depends on how certain you are about your field and how much direct patient care you want.
Nursing
B.Sc Nursing or GNM gives you one recognised professional route. You can later move into ICU, paediatrics, theatre, community health, midwifery, teaching and other areas through work experience or higher study.
Allied Health Sciences
Laboratory, imaging, cardiac care, operation theatre, emergency care, occupational therapy and optometry are different fields. You normally select your professional direction at the time of admission.
The honest summary: Allied health can be less expensive and gives you a defined technical role earlier. Nursing costs more at Vidyashekar but keeps a wider range of employers, clinical settings and future specialisations open. Neither is automatically better.

Still genuinely undecided? Nursing can be the safer default because it postpones the specialisation decision until you have experienced hospital work. Allied health is strongest when you are choosing it for a specific field—not simply because a seat is available.

How early do you want to specialise?
This matters more than the course name. Nursing delays the specialisation decision. Allied health asks you to make it before you begin.
Nursing keeps more options open
You qualify as a nurse and discover your preferred setting over time—ICU, paediatrics, theatre, community, midwifery or teaching. Moving between nursing settings usually does not require a completely new undergraduate qualification.

You choose imaging, laboratory, cardiac care or another technical field at admission. You gain focused skills sooner, but changing to a different allied-health profession may require a new qualification.

Do not ask only “Which course is better?”
Ask: “How certain am I about the exact work I want to do?” A student who genuinely enjoys imaging equipment may be happier in Medical Imaging Technology than in nursing. Specialising early is a risk mainly when you are unsure.

Which course pays more?
Starting pay depends heavily on the employer, city, role and practical skill. Nursing generally offers a clearer progression path and more established overseas routes. Some allied-health specialisations can pay well in specialist hospitals and diagnostic centres. Ask for recent, programme-specific placement examples rather than relying only on online salary averages.
Is NEET required?
Vidyashekar’s published information states that NEET is not required for B.Sc Nursing or GNM. For an allied-health programme, confirm the current rule for that exact course and academic year with the admissions team before applying.
I scored below 45% in PUC. What options may remain?
The comparison information lists 45% with PCB for B.Sc Nursing and 40% with PCB for the allied-health programmes discussed. GNM may provide another nursing route. Eligibility can vary by programme and regulation, so submit the marks card for a written eligibility check.
Can I move from Allied Health into Nursing later?
They are separate professional qualifications with different curricula and registration pathways. Do not assume there is automatic lateral entry. Confirm current university rules, but plan on the possibility that entering nursing later may require admission to a separate nursing programme.
Are Allied Health professions respected?
Hospitals depend on laboratory, imaging, cardiac, theatre, emergency, optometry and rehabilitation professionals. They may be less visible to the public than nursing, but they perform essential specialist work within the healthcare team.
